The Vereirn fur Deutsche Schaferhunde was started two weeks after the purchase of the famous GSD Dog, Horand von Grafrath. However, Captain Max Emil Frederick von Stephanitz had been watching Sheep/Shepherd Dogs for many years and had an idea of what he thought was the perfect Shepherd Dog, body type, temperament, and personality. It all came into play under his strict rules for breeding.
